
Prof. WANG Yi, born in Nanyang, Henan Province in June 1972 , Doctor of Laws, PhD Supervisor. He currently serves as a member of the Standing Committee of the RUC University Council and Vice President.
He obtained his Bachelor’s degree from the Law School of Zhengzhou University in 1993, Master’s degree of Civil and Commercial Law from Jilin University in 1996 and Doctor’s degree of Civil Law from Renmin University of China in 1999. He worked as a post-doctoral fellow at the Law School of Peking University from 1999 to 2001, and taught there from August 2001 to August 2005. Since September 2005, he has been working at the RUC Law School. He became an associate professor in 2001 and a professor in 2006. He served as Vice Dean of the RUC Law School, Vice Dean of the RUC School of Intellectual Property Law, Director of the Office of Development and Planning and Deputy Director of the Specialized Fund Management Office, Dean of RUC Law School and Chairperson of the RUC Law School Council.
Prof. Wang has won the following honors and awards: Distinguished Professor of the Changjiang Scholars Program (2013 and 2014), Young and Middle-aged Expert with Remarkable Contribution as part of the National Key Talents Program, the State Council Special Allowance of 2018, the Sixth National Ten Outstanding Young Jurists, the First Beijing Ten Outstanding Young Jurists, Member of the Talents Support Program in the New Century of the Ministry of Education, First Prize of National Higher Education Teaching Achievement Award, the Sixth Wu Yuzhang Outstanding Teaching Award and the 25th Beijing May 4 Medal. Other posts he holds include: member of the Steering Committee for Jurisprudential Teaching in Universities and Colleges of the Ministry of Education, Executive Member of China Law Society, Vice Chairperson and Secretary-general of Civil Law Research Association in China Law Society, member and Secretary-general of the Leading Group of Civil Code Drafting, China Law Society.
His main research areas are Principles of Civil Law and Methods of Civil Law Science, General Provisions of the Civil Law, Property Law, Contract Law, Personal Rights Law and Tort law. He has also published influential articles in such important academic publications as Social Sciences in China, China Legal Science, Chinese Journal of Law, including Substantial Argument Rule of Civil Value Judgments, The Significance of Administrative License in the Civil Law Sense, On Real Rights Norms Allocation, Classification of Legal Facts in Civil Law and Legal Compensation Obligation, an Independent Type of Compensation for Loan. Moreover, he has published many books, including On Property Change, Civil Law Principles and Methods of Civil Law Science. In addition, Prof. Wang has participated in the drafting of the Contract Law of the People’s Republic of China, Property Law of the People’s Republic of China, Tort Law of the People’s Republic of China and Civil Code of the People’s Republic of China.
