RUC Students Participated in World Youth Development Forum

Thirty students of Renmin University of China (RUC) attended the World Youth Development Forum either via video or by person, discussing how to accelerate the Global Development Initiative and implement the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development with youth from all over the world.

The forum is held online and offline from July 21 to 23, with nearly 2,000 youth representatives from over 100 countries attending the conference, according to the event organizer. Initiated by the All-China Youth Federation, the forum is aimed at building global exchange and cooperation platforms involving international organizations, government agencies, youth organizations, young leaders, and people from all walks of life.

Yang Qingqing, an undergraduate student of the School of Foreign Languages, said that the International Advocacy for Prioritizing Youth Development released in the first session was encouraging, which could promote the young generation to pay attention to and actively engage in international issues.

Guo Ting, an undergraduate student of the School of History, said that the forum could not only help the youth of the world to have a deeper understanding of the common values of all mankind such as peace and justice, but also help young people to have an in-depth discussion of various social issues connecting and influencing the world development. He added that the forum is an important platform for the youth of the world to show themselves and develop themselves.

Wang Shaocong, a Ph.D. student of the School of International Studies coming from Cuba, said that China’s way of solving absolute poverty has promoted the realization of the United Nations’ 2030 goals. And the youth of the world are very grateful China recognizes and supports the important role of youth in achieving these goals.

Vidhya, a postgraduate student of the School of Finance coming from India, said that the forum provided new perspectives and new directions to shaping and strengthening of youth responsibility, the role of youth in social responsibility forward to further promote mutual understating, friendship, and cooperation among the youth in China and in the world. She added that the forum promotes working for the benefit of all people and society.

Kobayashi Tomomi, a postgraduate student of School of Arts coming from Japan, said that the forum is a diversified platform that bridges distances and removes barriers, and gathers wisdom from all sides for the implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. She would strive to actively play the role of youth in the future, contributing to the world development.

Other students expressed their hope to join hands together to make our world a better place.
