RUC Deputy Secretary WU Fulai Visits Delegation from Singapore to Expand International Cooperation in Fine Arts

On Oct. 11-12th, RUC Deputy Secretary, Secretary of CPC Central Commission Discipline Inspection and Dean of School of Fine Arts WU Fulai visited delegations from Singapore, exploring personnel training, academic exchange and cooperation, joint programs, among other aspects for expanding international cooperation in fine arts with National University of Singapore, Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC), Singapore Coastal Arts Center, Singapore Symphony Orchestra and other culture and education institutions.

On the 11th, explorations and studies were conducted with representative delegations one after another including SCCC and Singapore Coastal Arts Center. SCCC was inaugurated by President XI Jinping himself, and currently makes up a large portion of overseas Chinese cultural centers. RUC Deputy Secretary WU and SCCC Chairwoman MA Hongyin engaged in talks on how to respond and implement programs and strategies to share and spread Chinese culture, and address issues in building RUC fine arts disciplines.

At the Singapore Coastal Arts Center, Vice President TAN Guangxue introduced the early design and construction experience of building a concert hall to RUC Deputy Secretary WU, as well as post-construction positioning, and entire operations management, as well addressing key issues that evolved. Both sides also discussed possibilities of training high-level personnel training and international professional arts management talents.

On the 11th, WU Fulai and delegation enjoyed a special concert organized by the National University of Singapore. Afterwards, WU met with alumni to understand better their work in Singapore, their life, and introduced RUC’s construction of “double first-rate” disciplines and recent 80th anniversary celebration as well as new campus construction in Tongzhou.

On the 12th, RUC Deputy Secretary WU again visited National University of Singapore, a world-class university that recently made a big push towards arts education. In 2003, they established Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, now a rising world-famous music institution. As Dean of School of Fine Arts, WU met with Deputy Director of Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music Craig De Wilde, and other famous musicians for extended talks. Both sides discussed management, building great staff, student and professional development and expansion of music disciplines, in addition to deeper cooperation.
