(2017-03-23 08:03:38)

On March 4-5th, and March 11-12th, RUC held its 2017 Music & Performance Major and Fine Arts Major Recruitment Exam.

In 2017, the RUC Music & Performance Major planned to recruit 57 students, majoring in piano and voice, string instruments such as violin, viola, cello, and bass, and wind instruments such as flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, tuba, French horn, and trombone, introducing a variety of fine arts. The Fine Arts Major plans on recruiting 77 students, with majors in painting, design, and fine arts (art managers and art planners). There are already 544 students enrolled in the Music and Performance major, and 2635 enrolled in the Fine Arts major.

This year, to better select students suited for training at RUC, the painting exam focused on “creative” works of art. The Fine Arts majors (art managers and art planners) have a written exam where instead of analyzing and interpreting an artwork, they will be asked to provide comprehensive knowledge of the cultural nuances, art and literature background of the piece. For this year’s exam, RUC gave advanced notice to the evaluation committee, improved its exam question preparation standards and format, and adopted new measures for evaluation, grading, and use of recording devices and mobile phones.

On March 11, RUC Vice President HONG Dayong called on the students taking the Fine Arts major exam.
