On the 15th of February, renowned Chinese quantitative economist, operations research specialist, pioneer in data envelopment analysis, and active participant in the political arena WEI Quanling passed away in Beijing, aged 78 years.
On the afternoon of the 22nd of February, a ceremony was held in Ming De Main building room 728 in memorial of the former RUC School of Economics professor WEI. RUC leaders, representatives of the faculties, friends, family, and former students of the professor, all in all over 100 people, attended to pay their respects.
During the ceremony everyone reminisced on professor WEI’s many achievements during his lifetime, how he served as an example to the people, and of his great contributions to society and to RUC. He was a valued educator, and was particularly talented at imparting his wisdom to his students. His passing is a great loss for his family, friends, colleagues, and students, which will be felt deeply for a long time, though his legacy at RUC will continue to live on.
